Located at 1250 m.a.s.l., the town of Krushevo is the highest settlement in Macedonia. The singer Tose Proeski, the painter Nikola Martinovski, and the revolutionaries Nikola Karev and Pitu Guli are among the notable people born in Krushevo. What makes Krushevo so important for Macedonia is that it is the place of Saint Elijah (Ilinden), the famous rebellion against the Ottomans that took place on 2nd of August 1903. Amenities visited in Krushevo during our tour are the Makedonium and Meckin Kamen, as well as the memorial house of Tose Proeski, a national hero who tragically died in a car accident in 2007.
