Because of its beautiful position on the confluence of the river Sava into the river Danube many battles were fought for it. It was destroyed more than forty times in its long history. Also, Belgrade is on the crossroads of North and South, East and West of the Europe and you can see the touches of many cultures in it. The touch of Ottoman empire, touch of
Austro-Hungarian empire.
