One day trip from Samarkand to Tajikistan ( Seven Lakes):

* Early Morning (around 7:00 - 8:00 AM): Your tour operator will pick you up from your hotel in Samarkand.

* Transfer to the Tajik Border (Jartepa): The drive is approximately 1 hour (around 40-50 km).

* Border Crossing: Your guide will assist you with the border formalities. This can take some time, so be patient. Ensure you have the necessary visa for Tajikistan.

* Drive to Penjikent: After crossing the border, you'll drive to Penjikent (about 30-50 km, 40 minutes).

* Penjikent Sightseeing (Optional): Some tours include a brief visit to Penjikent, an ancient Sogdian city. You might see the local bazaar and mosque. Some tours also include a visit to the Sarazm archaeological site (UNESCO World Heritage).

* Drive to the Seven Lakes: The journey from Penjikent to the Seven Lakes is scenic but can be on rough roads, often requiring a 4x4 vehicle (about 80 km).

* Exploring the Seven Lakes:

* You'll typically start from the lowest lake, Mijgon (1640m), and gradually ascend to the highest, Hazorchashma (2332m).

* Each lake has its unique color and charm:

* Mijgon: Known for its changing colors (turquoise, blue, purple).

* Soya: Often shaded by surrounding cliffs.

* Hushyor: Said to be full of fish.

* Nophin: The longest of the lakes, near the largest village.

* Khurdak: The smallest lake.

* Marghusor: The largest and considered the most beautiful, with ancient petroglyphs nearby. You might have the option to rent a donkey for the uphill hike here.

* Hazorchashma: The highest lake, offering stunning views.

* You'll have time for short walks, taking photos, and enjoying the natural beauty. Some tours include a picnic lunch by one of the lakes.

* Return to the Tajik-Uzbek Border: After visiting the lakes, you'll drive back towards the border.

* Border Crossing: You'll cross back into Uzbekistan.
