TIKAL: SUNSET ESCAPE & ANCIENT MYSTERIES

We will start in the afternoon to take advantage of the cooler hours. As your certified local guide, I will lead you through the Great Plaza, the Lost World, and the main complexes, immersing you in the stories of the great Mayan kings and the complex cosmology of this metropolis.

As the sun begins its descent, we will head to Temple IV (Tikal's highest temple, where climbing is permitted) or another strategic observation point. This is where the experience becomes unforgettable. We will witness the jungle turning vibrant shades of orange and purple, and listen to the chorus of howler monkeys as they prepare for the night.

The sunset visit offers a unique perspective, combining architectural grandeur with the serenity of the jungle at the close of day.

Key Places to Visit:

Great Plaza: The heart of Tikal (Temples I and II, Acropolis).

Lost World: Astronomical complex and Tikal's early history.

Temple IV or Key Viewpoint: The perfect spot to enjoy the sunset over the jungle canopy.

Central Acropolis: Palaces and residential courtyards.

Important Additional Information

Key Timing: For the sunset experience, entry to the park after 3:00 PM requires a special permit (and an additional fee, approximately Q100-Q150). We usually coordinate to exit around 6:30 PM.

Transportation: The cost does not include the regular entrance fee, the sunset permit fee, or return transportation. It is crucial to coordinate transport that can wait until the special closing time!

What to Bring: Flashlight (necessary for exiting), insect repellent (essential at dusk), water, snacks, and comfortable shoes.

Jungle Sounds: The jungle is highly active at sunset. We will keep an eye out for nocturnal wildlife.
