7 Days Uganda Primates Tour Adventure
This 7 Days Uganda primates tour will bring you to the best primate safari places of Uganda for Chimpanzee trekking and a gorilla tour in Bwindi forest. Expect to see Chimpanzee, Gorillas, and animals of African Savannah such as buffaloes, lions, leopards, hyenas, warthogs, Uganda kobs, bush bucks, Waterbucks, Elephants, Topi, mangoes plus hippopotamus crocodiles and lots of birds. This includes places of Kibale national park, Queen Elizabeth national park and Bwindi impenetrable national park.
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
You'll be picked up at Kigali Airport or downtown Kigali. Before driving to Volcanoes National Park, there is a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial and Museum. The Kigali Genocide Memorial is a significant and poignant place to visit in Kigali, Rwanda. It commemorates the lives lost during the 1994 Rwandan Genocide and serves as a place for education, reflection, and reconciliation.
In the evening, you'll do a cultural tour to the Gorilla Guardians Village to see the presentations of several Rwandan cultural and traditional practices, including a traditional dance performance.
Day 2: Golden Monkeys Tracking and Later Transfer to Bwindi via Cyanika Border
This trip will take you to trek the golden monkeys, an endemic species of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. You will enter the forest and walk through the bamboo vegetation and a variety of indigenous plants like giant lobelia. During the trip, your national park guide will tell you about the history of the national park and the fauna and flora that the park holds. After the golden monkey trek, you will drive to Bwindi/Mgahinga National Park for a restful evening.
Day 3: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
The gorilla trekking adventure will start with an early morning breakfast, a drive to the national park gate, and reaching the national park gate by 7:30 am. After getting to the national park gate, you'll check in at the park office and present your passports for verification. The park guide will assign you to the gorilla trekking group. Other visitors will likely join you. The national park guide will conduct the presentation covering the basics of what to expect during the gorilla search. The presentation will cover the gorilla trekking rules, the park's history, etc. Note that the actual trekking, i.e., the time spent with the gorillas inside the park, is a maximum of one hour.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
We will start the journey in the morning from the Bwindi National Park area and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive will take you through the Kabale-Ishaka-Bushenyi Road, with the stunning landscapes of southwestern Uganda and the area tea plantations. On arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, join the Kazinga Channel boat trip to enjoy possible sightings of hippos and elephants.
Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel
You will start the day with an early morning breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, you'll proceed to the famed Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park to spot various species of wild animals. Kasenyi plains dwell in the vast savannahs of the Albertine rift in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It will be a morning full of adventure! Expect to encounter lions, herds of buffalo, elephants, Uganda kobs, and bushbucks. While spotting the Big Five in the park is not guaranteed, on a lucky day, you may site leopards to make it the "Big Four." After lunch, you'll join the Kazinga channel boat cruise for an afternoon of wild game viewing. You will spot crocodiles, buffalo, elephants, and a wide range of bird species on the channel waters.
Day 6: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Kyambura Gorge to experience tracking the chimpanzees in their forest home. Kyambura gorge is a haven for chimp trekking in Uganda, and visitors have more than a 50% chance of encountering the animals. If you are lucky, on the Kyambura gorge trek, you might encounter one of the 6 different species of primates that call the area home. These include the colobus monkey, the olive baboon, and the red-tailed monkey. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing at the lodge.
Day 7: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kigali
All the Uganda trip memories still fresh in your mind, it's now time to go for the last game drive.
After breakfast, you'll head to the national park for a game drive. The wildlife to see includes zebras, impalas, warthogs, giraffes, and elands, among others. Later, we will transfer you to Kigali International Airport.
