Makalu Expedition Overview
Makalu Expedition is a great way to experience a mountaineering journey from the top of the pristine Mt. Makalu. Mt.Makalu stands tall with a height of 8,485m (8.485km). It is the fifth tallest mountain in the world and the fourth in Nepal. It falls in between Nepal and the Chinese region called Tibet Autonomous Region. Situated to the southeast of Mt.Everest, this mountain lies within the Mahalangur Himal. In the east, there lies Mt. Shishapangma while Mt. Kanchenjunga lies east. Mt.Makalu, itself stands tall in one of the most diverse national parks of Nepal i.e. Makalu-Barun National Park which is home to diverse and rare plants and animals. There also lies the beautiful and mesmerizing Makalu-Barun valley at the lap of this mountain offering magnificent views of the high waterfalls, breathtaking landscapes, and rich green forest with colorful flowers in full bloom.
Mt.Makalu provides a heartwarming experience to its climbers and a great escape from their day-to-day hustle. Since the mountain is isolated from the others, the routes leading to Mt. Makalu don’t get much of travelers which have left its beauty untouched. However, Makalu Expedition has its own challenges. The mountain has extremely sharp edges and abrupt pitches which makes it one of the hardest and most dangerous mountains to climb. Also, climbers have to do technical climbing on rocks during their final phase of reaching the summit.
