Day 1 Arrive at Lhasa Gongkar Airport / Train Station

Upon arrival at the Lhasa Gongkar airport/Lhasa train station, our client warmly welcomes our Tibetan local tour guide and the traditional Tibetan white scarf.

We drove for about an hour from the airport to Lhasa. It’s just half an hour's drive from the train station to the hotel. After check-in at the hotel, the guide will be briefing the tour itineraries for the next few days. The rest of the day will be your own free time to relax in the hotel and acclimatise to the high altitude.

Day 2Lhasa City Tour

We will begin our Lhasa tour by visiting the Jokhang Temple. The Jokhang temple is one of the most sacred temples in Tibet, built in the 7th century by the 33rd king of Tibet – Songtsen Gampo.

“Jokhang” means the temple of the Buddha. The Temple was built to house the Shakyamuni statue brought to Tibet by the Nepalese princess in the 7th century. After visiting the temple, you can explore the surrounding Barkhor Street and walk around the Temple following pilgrims from all over the Tibetan plateau.

Then we will visit the Drepung Monastery, once the biggest Gelugpa Monastery in the central part of Tibet. In the afternoon, we will visit the Sera Monastery, one of three great monasteries of Gelugpa school and attend the monks’ debating session, which is quite popular in Sera.

Day 3Lhasa City Tour

Today we visit the stunning Potala Palace – the landmark of the Lhasa tour. The Potala Palace is the winter palace for the successive Dalai Lamas. The fifth Dalai Lama built the palace in the 17th century.

Afternoon we will visit Norbu Lingka Palace, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama. The Potala Palace provides excellent views of the entire city. The palace has more than thousands of rooms, including the Dalai Lamas’ private quarters. The palace was built in the 18th century by the seventh Dalai Lama.
