7:00 AM – Pick Up from Hotel

Duration: 1.5-2 hours (from Cairo)

You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Cairo or Giza by an air-conditioned vehicle. The drive to Fayoum is about 1.5 to 2 hours, so you can relax and enjoy the scenic countryside views as you travel to the oasis.

9:00 AM – Arrival in Fayoum and Visit to Lake Qarun

Duration: 1 hour

Start your day with a visit to Lake Qarun, one of Egypt's largest natural lakes, located in the heart of Fayoum. It’s a great spot for birdwatching (especially migratory birds), as well as relaxing by the water.

Your guide will explain the significance of the lake, its history, and its role in the region’s ecosystem.

You can take a short boat ride (optional) on the lake or simply enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.

10:00 AM – Visit to the Valley of the Whales (Wadi Al-Hitan)

Duration: 1.5 hours

Next, you’ll head to the Valley of the Whales (Wadi Al-Hitan), a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its fossils of prehistoric whales and marine life that lived around 40 million years ago.

You’ll visit the museum and walk around the desert site to see the well-preserved fossils of ancient whales and other marine creatures, providing a unique glimpse into Egypt's natural history.

Your guide will explain the significance of these fossils and their discovery in the area.

12:00 PM – Visit to the Mud Brick City of Karanis

Duration: 1 hour

Continue your exploration with a visit to the ancient city of Karanis, an archaeological site located near Lake Qarun. Karanis was once a major Greco-Roman settlement that flourished between the 3rd century BC and the 7th century AD.

You’ll wander through the remains of temples, houses, and public buildings, as well as well-preserved mudbrick walls. Your guide will share insights into daily life in ancient Egypt during the Greco-Roman period.

1:00 PM – Traditional Egyptian Lunch

Duration: 1 hour

After visiting Karanis, head to a local restaurant or a traditional guesthouse for a delicious Egyptian lunch.

Menu options: Grilled chicken or fish, koshari, foul (beans), salads, breads, and desserts like baklava or basbousa.

Refreshments like fresh juices and mint tea will also be provided

2:30 PM – Visit to the Tunis Village and Pottery Workshop

Duration: 1 hour

After lunch, take a trip to the picturesque Tunis Village, located on the banks of Lake Qarun. The village is famous for its pottery workshops and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

You’ll have the chance to visit local artisans at their pottery workshops where you can see traditional Fayoumi ceramics being made. If you're interested, you can also purchase unique handmade pottery as souvenirs.

Take a stroll through the village and admire the charming cobblestone streets and colorful houses.

3:30 PM – Visit to the Hawara Pyramid and the Ancient Site of Amenemhat II

Duration: 1 hour

Head to the Hawara Pyramid, built during the Middle Kingdom (around 1800 BCE) by the pharaoh Amenemhat II. This pyramid is known for its distinctive design and is considered an important part of ancient Egyptian architecture.

You will explore the ruins surrounding the pyramid and learn about its historical significance, as well as the nearby tomb of Amenemhat II, which has been partially excavated.

The area is quieter than other pyramid sites, offering a peaceful and reflective atmosphere.

4:30 PM – Visit to the Fayoum Waterwheels (Norias)

Duration: 30 minutes

Before wrapping up the day, you’ll visit the Fayoum waterwheels, also known as norias, which have been used for centuries to irrigate the region’s fields.

These ancient wooden waterwheels are an important part of Fayoum’s agricultural history. You’ll have the chance to observe the traditional technology in action and take some beautiful photos of the wheels in the desert landscape.

5:00 PM – Relax and Enjoy the Sunset

Duration: 30 minutes

End your day with a relaxing stop at a scenic spot to enjoy the sunset over the desert or Lake Qarun. The view is perfect for capturing the beauty of the oasis.

You can enjoy a light refreshment, such as mint tea, as you watch the sun set behind the dunes and reflect on the day’s adventures.

5:30 PM – Drive Back to Cairo

Duration: 1.5-2 hours (from Fayoum to Cairo)

Your driver will take you back to Cairo or Giza, where you will arrive by 7:00 PM
