Itinerary

Week 1: Arrival, Getting Ready, and Learning

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,400m)

When your plane lands at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), a person from the program will be there to meet you. They will take you to your homestay or guesthouse. You will have time to settle in and put your bags away. Later, you will have a special Nepali welcome dinner with your host family or the program leader. This is a great way to start your trip and feel at home.

Day 02: Orientation and Seeing the Sights

The morning is for a full class on Nepali culture. You will learn about their ways, what is okay and what is not, and how to stay safe. You will also learn some simple Nepali words to help you get around. The class also covers the details of your work project. In the afternoon, a guide will take you to Swayambhunath Stupa. People call it the "Monkey Temple." From there, you get a beautiful view of Kathmandu city and the hills around it.

Day 03: First Day at Your Internship

Today, you will meet the people you will work with and your boss. The day is for finding out what the group's goals are, what your role will be, and the work you wil do for the next two weeks. You will get a feel for the workplace and how things are done.

Day 04-05: Internship Work

You will do the tasks you were given. You might be helping at a health clinic, teaching a class, or helping to write a plan for a company. These days are all aboutdoing the work and learning new things. In the evenings, you are free to walk around your neighborhood. You can find small shops or try some local food.

Day 06: Internship and Patan Durbar Square

After you finish your work for the day, you will go to the old city of Patan. This place is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Patan Durbar Square is known for itsNewari buildings. You will see stunning old palaces, temples, and courtyards. The art and history here are very rich.

Day 07: Internship and Boudhanath Stupa

This is your last day of work for the week. In the evening, you will visit Boudhanath Stupa. This is one of the biggest round temples in the world. You can join otherpeople as they walk in a circle around the big dome. This is called a kora. It is a peaceful thing to do as the sun goes down.

Week 2: Getting More Involved and Saying Goodbye

Day 08: Weekend Trip to Nagarkot

You will travel to Nagarkot. It is a hill station known for its great views. On a clear day, you can see the sun come up over Mount Everest. You will spend the night at a hotel in Nagarkot.

Day 09: Sunrise View and Bhaktapur

Get up early to see the sun rise over the big mountains. It is a sight you will never forget. After you eat breakfast, you will drive back towards Kathmandu. On the way, you will stop to explore the city of Bhaktapur. This place is a medieval city and is also on the UNESCO World Heritage list. It feels like you have stepped back in time.

Day 10-13: Final Days of Internship

You will go back to your work with new energy from your trip. These last few days are very important. You will finish your projects, talk to your team about what you found, and write down what you did. You may also teach a local worker what you have learned. This helps make sure your work can go on after you leave.

Day 14: Final Report and Farewell Dinner

In the morning, you will work on your final report. You can give your thoughts about the internship and what you learned. In the evening, a farewell dinner is planned. This is a time to say thank you and goodbye to your new friends and co-workers.
