We will begin our visit in the square of Santa Maria Novella, famous for a tradition now forgotten, the race with chariots. We will also admire the beautiful facade of the church, work of the genius of Leon Battista Alberti, famous fifteenth-century theorist and architect.

Our visit continues in the religious centre of the city, cathedral square, the famous cathedral surmounted by the majestic dome, by Filippo Brunelleschi, who still arouses the curiosity of architects and engineers, and the admiration of those who are watching it.

We will then continue towards the square which is still today the political centre of Florence, Piazza della Signoria. But before we get there we will visit the small church of Orsanmichele, building born as a barn, then converted into a place of worship, which today houses some of the most beautiful statues of artists like Donatello and Verrocchio.

In Piazza della Signoria, in the shadow of the imposing Palazzo Vecchio you will be able to admire statues like Michelangelo’s David, the Rapture of sabines of  Giambologna and the Marzocco of Donatello, you will also discover some of the most significant events of the city’s folklore.

The last part of our itinerary will be dedicated to Ponte Vecchio, dating back to 1345, and to the river above it, the Arno. The river that was, in the centuries, luck and misfortune for the inhabitants of Florence.

We will conclude our walk, for those who want it, with a delight all Florentine. Ice cream.
