Panjakent is one of the ancient city, that is located in the nouthern part of Tajikistan.

Panjakent not far from the border with Uzbekistan. Samarkand is about 60 km to the west and often serves as a starting point for one or two-day excursions to Panjakent.

The city is situated at just under 1,000 metres above sea level in an approximately 5 km wide valley of the Zerafshan River, which subsequently forms the livelihood of the important Uzbek cities of Samarkand and Bukhara. The name of the city comes from the Persian Panchekant, which roughly means “five places”. Welcome to the ancient and historical city of Panjakent.
