Bhutan Ura Yakchoe Festival Tour is an invigorating trip that takes us to the major towns of Bhutan such as Thimphu, Punakha and Paro. Moreover, we take part in the celebration of the festival in Bumthang.
Ura Yakchoe Festival tour in Bhutan embarks on a spiritual and cultural journey from the west to central Bhutan in search of one of the most amazing festivals in the country, Ura Yakchoe. Ura Yakchoe Festival brings together the communities in the Ura valley to celebrate the festivities once a year with dances, songs, eateries, and a strong union.
The festival holds a historical and significance and takes place at the Ura Lhakhang in Bumthang. With witnessing sacred dance performances, tourists get an insight into the belief and faith of the Bhutanese people and culture. The three-day festival creates an atmosphere of zeal and enthusiasm which is a unique experience to cherish for a lifetime.
Itinerary
Day 01
1Arrival in Paro then transfer to Thimphu City - 1:30 hours (55km) drive
Day 02
2Sightseeing tour in Thimphu
In the morning, we visit the Memorial Chorten (built in memory of the third King of Bhutan who reigned from 1952-1972), the nunnery temple, and the mini zoo to see Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. Today, we also visit other landmarks of Thimphu including the National Institute of Traditional Medicine, the Bhutanese traditional painting school, the lk Heritage Museum, the majestic Tashichho Dzong and the traditional paper factory. However, some of the landmarks are closed on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Therefore, if we are in Thimphu during the weekend, we will explore the Weekend Market instead.Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 03
3Drive from Thimphu to Punakha and sightseeing - 2 to 3 hours (74km) drive.
Day 04
4Drive from Punakha to Bumthang - 6 to 7 hours (216km) drive
On this day, you will take a long drive from Punakha to Bumthang. The road leads through lush green oak and rhododendron forest. On the way, you will be enthralled by the incredible views of the rural Bhutan settings with sparse settlements in the hills. A short instance before you reach Bumthang, you will come across the Yathra factory. It is also one of the top attractions of Bumthang. There, you will see women working on their wooden looms to weave wool. The Yathra factory here in Zugney of Chummey valley prepares bags, scarf and other items from the wool.
After spending some time interacting with the workers, you can continue your drive to Bumthang.

7Sightseeing Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (3,120m/10,236ft) - 3 to 4 hours (6.4km) hike

8Transfer to the Paro International airport – Departure
On this day, you will be driven to Paro as it houses the only international airport in Bhutan; the Paro International Airport. After the amazing Druk Path Trek with Amen Bhutan Travel , we will bid you farewell. As you board the plane to your homeland.
