Marvel Treks and Expedition expert team of highly-trained mountain guides have extensive experience of climbing Cho Oyu, with multiple successful summits between them. We’re well aware of the pitfalls of underestimating this mountain, and will ensure that everyone on this expedition meets the required levels of fitness, and has the ability to make it to the summit and safely back home.
Cho Oyu expedition tackles the conventional route up the mountain’s Northwest Ridge, and the relative accessibility of this peak means it can be completed in 45 days. Our approach to expedition planning means that we control every aspect of the trip, from the food provision to the fixing of ropes. Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival In Kathmandu & Transfer to the Hotel (1,350m)
Day 2 : Welcome brief, gear check and official formalities in Kathmandu
Day 3 : Tibet Visa Issue and Expedition briefing
Day 4 : Tibet visa collection day and expedition briefing
Day 5 : Drive from Kathmandu to Timure
Day 6 : Cross the border of Nepal and Drive to Kerung (1962m)
Day 7 : Drive from Kerung in Old Thingri (4,300m)
Day 8 : Acclimatization and Preparation day in Old Thingri
Day 9 : Drive from Old Thingri to Cho Oyu Chinese Basecamp (5,100m), Via Rombuk Monastery
Day 10 - 12 : 3 more Nights Stay in Cho Oyu Chinese Basecamp (5,100m
Day 13 : Trek from Cho Oyu Basecamp to Intermediate Camp (5,400m)
Day 14 : Ascent from Intermediate basecamp to Advance Basecamp (5,700m)
Day 15 - 39 : Climbing Period [Adv. Basecamp - Summit (8,201m) - Adv.Basecamp]
Day 40 : Descend from Adv. Basecamp to Cho Oyu Basecamp
Day 41 : Drive back from Cho Oyu Basecamp to Thingri
Day 42 : Drive from Thingri to Kerung
Day 43 : Cross the border and drive to Kathmandu (Overnight stay at Hotel)
Day 44 : Leisure day in Kathmandu City
Day 45 : Transfer to the International Airport for final departure.
