Days 1 - Ouarzazate
Depart from Marrakech to Ouarzazate via the High Atlas Mountains, where we’ll visit traditional Berber villages and enjoy stunning views. Our first stop is at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, followed by lunch near the Kasbah. In Ouarzazate, we’ll visit the Kasbah Taourirt and Atlas Studios. Overnight in Ouarzazate.
Day 2 - Erfoud, Rissani, Merzouga
After breakfast, we’ll drive to Todra Gorges, where we’ll see the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley. We’ll walk under the 300m high red cliff, and continue our journey to Erfoud and Rissani for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll head to Merzouga, where we’ll be welcomed with mint tea. Overnight in Merzouga.
Day 3 - Khamlia, Erg Chebbi
After breakfast, we’ll visit the Khamlia village to experience their music and lifestyle and see the bird populations at the lake of Merzouga, including flamingos. You can also visit the nomad wire house where many Berber handicrafts are priced lower than in big cities. In the afternoon, we’ll ride camels into the mysterious sand sea of the Erg Chebbi and spend the night in a traditional Berber nomad tent, or under the stars, with dinner served in the tent
Day 4
We’ll wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes before returning to Merzouga by camel. We’ll depart for Fes, passing through the small towns of Rissani and Erfoud before continuing through Errachidia and the spectacular Ziz Valley. We’ll visit Azrou, an important center for Berber artisans, the majestic Middle Atlas cedar forests, and Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco”. We’ll arrive in Fes to end the tour.
