5 Days Tanzania Family Safari with Young Children
Day 1 : Arrival at Haradali home – 1hr drive from kilimanjaro airport
Welcome to Tanzania. After the long flight, it is time to arrive at your destination, where a Nature responsible safari team will be there to pick you up and transfer you to Haradali Home.
Haradali Home is a homestay that allows you to interact with a Tanzanian family one-on-one We have all the rooms, from family rooms to single, triple and double When we built our home, we realised it is located in a beautiful location, and we wanted to share it with our guests. Unlike a hotel, it allows flexibility and gives a home-like atmosphere, which is best for children on safari. Feel like you’ve found a long-lost family at our property, and enjoy your night around laughter and love. Explore the garden and small farm and interact with different people at the property, children can also ride bicycles around the area, and we have a reading room for them to borrow some books as well as a swimming pool.

You can leave some luggage at Haradali and collect it on departure day. On this day, you will head to Tarangire National Park for a full-game drive. If you are a fan of elephants, then Tarangire is the place for you. Known as the ‘home of elephants’, Tarangire is famous for holding a large number of elephant herds. It was named after the Tarangire River, which crosses the park. Tarangire is a vast park that holds almost all of the big five (if your are lucky) but not the Rhino. It is rich in vegetation and wildlife. You will have your packed lunch for you to enjoy later as you watch the beautiful view stretching out in the distance while you enjoy the splendid connection with nature.
Day 3 : Mto wa mbu market tour – 30 min drive
Allow us to show your child the way to shopping in Africa. After breakfast, leave for a market tour in Mto wa Mbu. At the market, they will see a different way of shopping in Africa, and they will learn a lot from that. We say, Give them the experience and that will stick with them for the rest of their life. After the tour return to the lodge for lunch, and have an afternoon at leisure. Mawemawe Manyara Lodge has a great staff and they will make sure everything you need is within reach.
While relaxing, you can have a game of trivia as a family to keep yourself entertained and calm. The accommodation has a fully stocked bar that allows you to get any drinks you will need for your stay there (extra charges are involved).

Day 4 : Full day Ngorongoro crater 1 hour drive from Mawemawe Lodge
Your morning will start at a reasonable time and will be polepole as you make your way towards Ngorongoro Crater. You will have breakfast at around 7:00 a.m., and your guide will depart with you at around 8:00 a.m. He will carry a packed lunch for you because you will have a full day at the Ngorongoro crater. Known as the 8th wonder of the world, Ngorongoro Crater is known for its exquisite beauty. The animals are known to be active in the early morning, so an early morning drive is highly recommended. Depending on what you decide with your safari guide, you could have breakfast at the lodge and carry a packed lunch, or you could carry both a packed breakfast and lunch. On this day, you will descend into the crater, which is filled with vegetation, forestry, and animals. The crater was formed by volcanic activities in the past that caused the creation of a caldera. The caldera got deeper and bigger, reaching a depth of about 610 meters.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers an area of about 260 square kilometres. Get to explore Africa’s ‘Garden of Eden’ in the comfort of your safari vehicle and spot the Big Five: elephant, buffalo, leopard (if you are lucky), black mane lion, and the rare black rhino. You will also be able to see hyenas, jackals, flamingos, and yawning hippos. Enjoy a delightful picnic lunch in the heart of this ancient volcanic crater, close to the hippo pool.
In the evening, you will head back to the accommodation for an overnight stay and dinner after the long day. We still hope that you make the most of the evening by spending time by the bonfire as you let all the day’s fatigue melt away.
