Unknown Mirdita - 9 days tour
On ancient paths, to remote villages and through deep gorges
Arthur Moor, an English scholar, for whom “Albanians are possibly the oldest peoples in Europe”, writes: “Mirdita is such a strange world in Europe that it deserves careful scrutiny...the ‘heart of Shqipnis’ which the Turks never conquered. That is still unexplored and indescribable as in the beginning...” I can only agree. Mirdita is still an unnoticed region even for many Albanians. Too isolated, too stigmatized during the dictatorship, too idiosyncratic. Such a journey as offered is not just a search for clues in the realm of the mystical, mythical and an incredibly rough story, but also a journey to ourselves - a journey through life. Nowhere had you rewarded like this if you have the courage, of course with a competent guide, to venture away from the tourist attractions into the unusual, into the completely unexpected. Nowhere does the saying “If someone takes a journey, then he can tell something” fit better than on paths that lead to smaller and bigger adventures.
