Mount Kilimanjaro Day Hike Experience - Shira Plateau
Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the world’s tallest freestanding mountain, with an elevation of 5,895m (19,340 feet) ASL. Located 80km from Arusha and 25km from Moshi, its strategic location makes it a prime destination for travelers seeking a unique and breathtaking adventure.
Climbing to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro typically requires six to nine days. However, I offer you the opportunity to hike up to 3,601m (11,814 feet) ASL in just one day. This is the perfect option for those with limited time or for travelers who may not be fully prepared for a multi-day ascent, yet still wish to experience the beauty and grandeur of Africa’s tallest mountain.
🐾 Destinations & Activities / Highlights.
I will pick you up from your hotel or station at 8:00 AM with your lunch box and drinking water. We will then embark on a 2.5-hour drive to the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro, arriving at Londorossi Gate. Upon arrival, you will register for the hike, which will take just a few minutes. After registration, we will continue our drive through Kilimanjaro’s lush rainforest to Morum Picnic Site, situated at an elevation of 3,407m ASL. From here, we will begin our hike across the stunning Shira Plateau, making our way to Shira 1 Camp at 3,601m ASL. At Shira 1 Camp, you will enjoy your packed lunch while taking in the breathtaking views of the plateau. After lunch, we will hike back to the picnic site, where we will meet our vehicle and drive back to your hotel.
