Youssef HILO is a tour guide in Petra, Amman, Madaba
I am a Licensed tour guide, officially by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities since 1994. Specialized in: Biblical geography (e.g., I can take you to the real baptism of Jesus Christ), history, archaeology, Nature Reserves, People, culture and cuisine of Jordan. So, it has been beautiful 26 years of meeting wonderful people (and some are dear friends) while sharing knowledge and interesting experiences. Additionally, I believe in investing in time and learning as a student at the Arab Open-UK university targeting a PhD in Tourism Marketing for 2022. This reflects positively on my performance as a guide, therefore, there has been events where such viable knowledge provided successful solutions. Thus, I believe in continuous learning in order to develop and provide addad-value service to my customers. The academic knowledge is a plus to my field practice and affiliation with the Friends of Archaeology and Heritage in Jordan for more than 20 years which gave me the competitive advantage (i.e., knowing places and its stories, that ARE NOT on the touristic map e.g., in Petra, I am only lucky to know the place where there are Ibex 2000+ years old rock art). Furthermore, I am flexible with situations and I listen to what my clients try to tell me because this is how I can define their needs and interests. Subsequently it becomes my job to satisfy such needs according to best practice. Finally, I've had my share in visiting wonderful places but ended with great disappointments when my guide failed to do a good job and/or live up to my expectations Conversly, I am proud of my clients who'd express joy and satisfaction the same way I feel when selecting my guide and I never go for less than the best guides. They do make all the difference in the world and that is what traveling is all about.
