Visit 2 famous art museums in Rio and Niterói with entrance to the Museum of Modern Art by Affonso Eduardo Reidy, and the Museum of Contemporary Art by the legendary architect Oscar Niemeyer. Marvel at futuristic architectural masterpieces.

Journey through modern and contemporary art with a visit to the 2 prominent cultural institutions of Guanabara Bay. Visit the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) in Rio de Janeiro, and then cross the bridge to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) in Niterói. Enter a world of architectural masterpieces that integrate seamlessly with the stunning landscapes.

Occupying a privileged space in Flamengo Park, MAM is housed in a building by Affonso Eduardo Reidy that follows the rationalist concept of structures integrated with the landscape. Serving as a stage for the manifestations of the Brazilian avant-garde art world, from the New Realists to the Neo-Concretists, the museum has a prominent place in the cultural life of Rio and has exhibited works by Hélio Oiticica that gave rise to the Tropicalist movement.

Marvel at how the building integrates with the sea and gardens at its magnificent setting on the bay. From Flamengo Park, you can see many of Rio's iconic attractions, including Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açucar), the Christ the Redeemer statue (Cristo Redentor), the Marina da Glória, Santos Dumont Airport and the relief of Niterói across the bay!

Head to Niterói after your visit to MAM, crossing the Rio-Niterói Bridge for panoramic views of Guanabara Bay and the man-made monuments of the Caminho Niemeyer (Niemeyer Path). Go to the Museum of Contemporary Art at the end of the path, and discover a building considered one of the architectural wonders of the world.

Known for its futuristic, flying saucer-like structure, MAC has become a symbol of Niterói and showcases art in a spectacular space that includes a circular glass balcony overlooking Guanabara Bay. For Niemeyer, the purpose of the museum is to anticipate the future in the 21st century through an architectural communion with the landscape.
