Bhutan Black-Necked Crane Annual Festival Tour (8 Days) is a refreshing tour itinerary that takes you to the major cities of Bhutan, such as Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, and Gangtey/ Phobjikha. We take part in the celebration of the Black-Necked Crane annual festival in Phobjjijkha together with the locals, which let us experience the rich culture of Bhutan.

This festival is not only play an important role in preserving Bhutan’s rich culture and traditions but also provide devout Buddhists with an opportunity for prayer and pilgrimage. They reflect the richness of the Bhutanese cultural heritage and are very special in the eyes and hearts of both Bhutanese and tourists who visit Bhutan.

Itinerary,

Day 01

Arrival in Paro then transfer to Thimphu City - 1:30 hours (55km) drive

Day 02

Sightseeing tour in Thimphu

In the morning, we visit the Memorial Chorten (built in memory of the third King of Bhutan who reigned from 1952-1972), the nunnery temple, and the mini zoo to see Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. Today, we also visit other landmarks of Thimphu including the National Institute of Traditional Medicine, the Bhutanese traditional painting school, the lk Heritage Museum, the majestic Tashichho Dzong and the traditional paper factory. However, some of the landmarks are closed on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Therefore, if we are in Thimphu during the weekend, we will explore the Weekend Market instead.

Day 03

Drive from Thimphu to Punakha and sightseeing - 2 to 3 hours (74km) drive.

Day 04

Drive from Punakha to Gangtey/Phobjikha - 2 to 3 hours (85km) drive

Day 05

Attend the Black-necked Crane Festival in Gangtey Goempa

Day 06

Drive from Gangtey to Paro - 6 to 7 hours (205km) drive

Day 07

Sightseeing Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (3,120m/10,236ft) - 3 to 4 hours (6.4km) hike

Day 08

Transfer to the Paro International airport – Departure

On this day, you will be driven to Paro as it houses the only international airport in Bhutan; the Paro International Airport. After the amazing Druk Path Trek, we will bid you farewell. As you board the plane to your homeland.
