Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport – meets with a professional guide and then transfer to Kigali Marriott hotel. Dinner not included

Day 2: Kigali – Nyungwe

From Kigali City the capital of Rwanda to Southwest

An early morning after breakfast drive to Nyungwe forest. On the way visit Nyanza King’s Palace, the National Museum of Butare. Nyanza was the headquarters of the ancient Rwanda Kingdom before the arrival of the Europeans. The compound has the modern palace constructed by King Mutara in 1934. It is tastefully decorated with the traditional mats and utensils. The Butare Museum is reputed to be the best ethnographical Museum in East Africa. It is the home of the national ballet-Intore dancers. Have lunch at Butare and proceed to Nyungwe. Overnight at Nyungwe top view lodge or Emerrode kivu resort. Full board.

Day 3: Hiking, trekking, tracking chimpanzee in Nyungwe and Canopy

Early morning enter Nyungwe forest to track the Nyungwe chimpanzees A walk in the forest is a whole learning experience conducted by knowledgeable guides well versed in botany, ornithology and interspecies relationship in this forest. Thereafter noon you will visit canopy walkway and return to your lodge.

The canopy walkway is accessed from the Igishigishigi trail, one of the many hiking trails in Nyungwe Forest National Park. The canopy walk tour therefore involves hiking along the Igishigishigi trail 2.1km long, with the canopy walkway creating a sort of bridge or shortcut along this looping trail. The canopy walkway measures a total of 160 meters in length and is suspended 75 meters from the ground across a deep valley filled with thick forest.

The canopy walk tour starts at Uwinka which is also the park’s headquarters and the round trip takes from 1.5 to 2 hours long. After registering at the Visitor’s Center, visitors take on a forest trail that connects to the Igishigishigi trail. The forest walk offers a beautiful nature experience and one gets to observe wildlife found at the ground level and enjoy beautiful views of forest clad rolling hills.

Day 4 : Nyungwe - Kibuye- Volcanoes

from Northwest to North of Rwanda.

After breakfast, drive to kibuye . The drive Nyungwe to Kibuye is via the most beautiful providing spectacular views of the lake Kivu tea growing and coffee plants. Brief stops are provided for photography. depending on your choice here you can do boat tour in lake Kivu to explore 3 islands. Lake Kivu, the Rwanda’s most attractive of lake ports, nestled in a series of interwoven and undulating hills and offering visitors spectacular views of the lake, its islands and the stunning surrounding countryside.( option)

Here you can do Coffee tour experience to see all process of the coffee and tea process and experience.

It is considered one of Rwanda’s hidden treasures, with its lush green hills and peaceful breeze. Drive to the shores of the Lake Kivu to enjoy a boat ride to visit the Napoleon and Peace Islands to see a number of colorful birds, clouds of big fruit bats, learn the history of the lake and the beautiful views of the Lake surroundings. Overnight at Ingagi Park View Lodge. Full board. 2 nights

Day 5: Gorilla trekking & Ibyiwacu cultural village.

Breakfast is allowed early morning followed by a drive to Kinigi park headquarters for group 2 hours. guide allocation and briefing. This is followed by a drive to the trailheads where hiking and trekking up the hills to the bamboo zone begins. Hiking, trekking and tracking gorillas may take 2-4 hours. Sight and stay with the Gorillas for one hour. After lunch you will visit Ibyiwacu Cultural Village 5 minutes driving time from your lodge to Ibyiwacu Cultural Village

Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village is committed at showcasing the ways of living, traditional lifestyles and dances to tourists.

Day 6: Volcanoes- Akagera National Park

From Northern of Rwanda to Eastern of Rwanda.

In the morning after breakfast, transfer to Akagera national Park.

Stopovers, lunch provided with panoramic views. Upon arrival in the park after check in you will choose what to do according how you will be feeling, either boat tour or night Safari or relax at the lodge.

Overnight at Mantis Akagera Game Lodge. Full board.

Day 7: Full Game drive in Akagera Park

Early breakfast at 6:45am; in preparation for an early game drive day at 7am. It’s important to start early before it gets hot and avoid birds and others animals go in hide due to heat. A good day to see other wildlife besides birds such as the Lions,Rhinos, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopards, giraffes, Zebras, Hippos, crocodiles and numerous of antelopes, in addition to the 525 bird species including some Albertine rift endemics recorded in this park. We will search for the shoe bill stork around Birengero and Rwanyakizinga lake. Diversity of reptiles, amphibians, plants, magnificent landscapes, historical sites etc. The park is known for holding the highest concentration of birds per square kilometer in any national park of Africa.Dinner and overnight at Akagera Mantis lodge. Full board.

Day 8: Akagera park- Kigali and departure

In the morning after breakfast drive from akagera park to Kigali, city tour including Kigali genocide memorial, art galleries, visit kimironko market to buy some souvenirs and proceed to airport for your flight.
