3-Day Sahara Desert Trip from Marrakech – A Journey of a Lifetime

Day 1: Marrakech – Aït Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

Our desert adventure begins with an early morning departure from Marrakech. We cross the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), offering panoramic views of Berber villages scattered along the hillside.

Our first major stop is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aït Benhaddou, a stunning ksar (fortified village) that has served as the backdrop for many films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

After lunch in the area, we head to Ouarzazate, often called the "Hollywood of Africa," before continuing through the scenic Rose Valley and along the Road of 1000 Kasbahs to reach the Dades Gorge.

Overnight in a traditional guesthouse nestled in the valley, with dinner included.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)

After breakfast, we explore the majestic Todra Gorge, where towering canyon walls create a dramatic backdrop for photos and a short walk along the river.

We then drive through Berber villages, palm groves, and desert landscapes toward Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara.

Upon arrival, you will switch to a camel caravan and ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes, enjoying the shifting colors of the sand as the sun sets.

Tonight, experience the magic of the desert at a luxury or standard Berber camp. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, music around the fire, and stargazing in the serene silence of the Sahara.

Day 3: Merzouga – Alnif – Nkob – Marrakech

Rise early to witness the sunrise over the dunes, then ride camels back to Merzouga for breakfast and a quick shower.

We then begin our return journey, passing through the dramatic Draa Valley, famous for its palm groves and ancient kasbahs, and the village of Nkob, known for its peaceful atmosphere.

We continue back over the Atlas Mountains, arriving in Marrakech by evening.
