Saranda – Lekures – Mesopotam Monastery – Blue Eye – Saranda

Language English, Italian
Cost 65 EUR for tour/excursion
Capacity Any number of people
Duration 5 hours

Your day begins in Saranda with a pleasant walk through the city center and along its famous promenade, where the vibrant atmosphere blends with the scent of the Ionian Sea. Along the way, you’ll discover the history of Saranda – an ancient port that has transformed into one of Albania’s top tourist destinations, often called “The Gateway to Tourism.”

The journey continues to Lekures Castle, where breathtaking panoramic views stretch over the Bay of Saranda and the island of Corfu. Built in the mid-16th century by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent to control the Corfu Channel, this fortress is the perfect spot for stunning photos and a taste of living history.Next, we head to the Mesopotam Monastery, home to a unique 13th-century Byzantine church – the only one of its kind in the country with four domes. Dedicated to Saint Nicholas, it was built using stones brought from the ancient city of Phoenice, once the capital of the Ancient Epirus. This is a place where history, faith, and architecture merge beautifully.

Our final stop is the Blue Eye, Albania’s most famous karst spring, known for its deep crystal-blue waters and lush vegetation reminiscent of the tropics. With a documented depth of over 50 meters, its natural beauty invites you to relax, take photos, enjoy optional kayaking, or have a leisurely lunch by the water.

We return to Saranda after this magical experience – a day filled with history, landscapes, and natural wonders.
