Hello, dear visitors and future friends from all over the beautiful world. My name is Carlos Martínez García López Fernández, and I was born in Barcelona on a sunny Tuesday morning in April, a detail I always remember because my grandmother used to say that people born on sunny days have a special destiny connected with light, culture, and communication.
Since childhood, I have felt a deep connection to history, stories, and people. As a child, I liked walking with my parents and observing buildings, streets, doors, balconies, and many other things people usually ignore. These early impressions strongly influenced my later decision to study tourism, culture, and broader human interaction.
I completed my studies many years ago, and during this long and enriching journey, I have met many people from different countries, cultures, and mentalities. Each of these encounters taught me something important about life, patience, and communication. I believe guiding is not only about explaining monuments, but also about exchanging energy, emotions, and personal perspectives.
Over the years, I have developed my own philosophy of guiding, grounded in authenticity, sincerity, and flexibility. I do not like rigid schedules, strict programs, or imposed routes. Every tour is a unique experience, just like every human being is unique. Sometimes we walk faster, sometimes slower, sometimes we stop to think, sometimes we stop to take photos, sometimes we simply observe silence.
Barcelona is a city with many layers, from Roman times to modern days, from kings to workers, from artists to ordinary citizens. Explaining all this is not easy, and it requires sensitivity and intuition. I always try to feel the group, understand their mood, and adapt my explanations accordingly.
Apart from guiding, I have many hobbies and interests. I enjoy reading historical novels, watching documentaries, cooking traditional Spanish dishes (especially paella, though opinions differ on how it should be cooked), listening to music from different periods, walking by the sea, and sometimes simply sitting in a café observing life.
I believe these personal interests enrich my guiding style because they allow me to connect facts with emotions and daily life. A city is not only stones and dates, but it is also smells, sounds, memories, and personal interpretations.
I have guided families, couples, groups of friends, students, seniors, and many other types of travelers. Each group leaves something behind, and I am grateful for every experience.
