How to Write a Great Review for a Tour Guide on the PRIVATE GUIDE WORLD platform
Let’s make this easy, even fun. In just a few minutes, you’ll know exactly what to write, how, and why your review can make a real difference and change the game.
To write traveler reviews is as easy as it gets.
🌍 Why Your Review Matters
Let’s get one thing straight:
RULE #2 - You don’t need to be a writer to write a good review.
What matters is honesty and detail.
Your review:
- Helps other travelers decide who to book
- Rewards excellent local tour guides who give their heart to this job
- Provides feedback that helps guides improve and grow
- Boosts local economies and promotes authentic travel

In short, your words have power. Even a few lines can help someone choose the right tour guide or avoid a disappointing experience.
🧭 What to Include in Your Review (The Simple Formula)
If you're stuck, here is RULE #3 - use an easy 5-part structure. You don’t have to include everything — but even hitting 3 out of 5 will make for a helpful review.
1. What kind of tour did you take?
Mention the destination, type of tour, and the date (if recent).
Example: “We booked a 3-hour walking tour of old town Istanbul in March 2025.”

2. Who was your tour guide, and what stood out?
Use the guide’s name and highlight anything special — friendliness, knowledge, flexibility, humor.
Example: “Our guide, Fatima, was incredibly knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor that made history fun.”
3. What did you love about the experience?
Think emotions here — what made the tour memorable or unique?
Example: “We loved how she showed us hidden spots we’d never have found ourselves. It felt like walking with a local friend we knew for ages.”
A tourist reads other travelers’ reviews using a magnifier.
4. Any practical info future travelers should know?
Was the guide on time? Easy to understand? Good with kids? Was the pace right? Anything to help others make a choice.
Example: “The tour was easy-paced, perfect even for my 70-year-old mom. She also spoke excellent English.”
5. Would you recommend the guide?
A simple thumbs-up or personal recommendation is very powerful.
Example: “Highly recommend Fatima to anyone visiting Istanbul — especially first-timers!”

🛑 What NOT to Worry About
Let’s bust a few myths:
- ❌ You don’t need to write a novel. Even 3-4 honest sentences can be impactful.
- ❌ You don’t need perfect grammar or spelling. This isn’t an English exam.
- ❌ You don’t need to sugarcoat. If something could have been better, say it respectfully.
- ❌ You don’t need to be formal. Be yourself — casual reviews feel more authentic.

✨ Bonus Tips for an Amazing Review
- Add photos. A photo of a smiling group, a hidden gem, or a great meal during the tour adds trust and color.
- Be specific. “He was great” is okay. “He told amazing stories about the French Revolution and made us laugh” is much better.
- Mention your situation. Were you a solo traveler, a family with kids, or a senior? This helps others relate.
- Share one memorable moment. One cool story or experience makes the review stand out.
To write a review about your travel experience is a lot of fun!

🗨️ Still Not Sure What to Write?
Okay, here’s your cheat code. Copy-paste this and fill in the blanks:
I took a [type of tour] in [city] with [guide’s name] on [date]. It was [adjective]! The best part was [something specific]. I really appreciated [something the guide did well]. I’d recommend this tour to [type of traveler]. Thanks again!
Example of a helpful and authentic review.
Boom. You’ve got a helpful, authentic review. No stress, no second-guessing.
🌟 Final Thoughts
Writing a review isn’t about being poetic. It’s about being authentic. Your voice, your words — that’s what matters.
If you had a great experience, help others find it, too. If something could be better, say so kindly. And if you’re ever unsure what to write, imagine you’re telling a friend about your trip over coffee. That’s the perfect review.
Writing a review is a very creative process!
How to Write a Negative Review Without Sounding Like a Jerk
😕 What If I Had a Bad Experience? How to Write a Negative Review That’s Still Helpful. Writing a negative review that is fair, helpful, and not emotionally destructive is way more complicated than it looks. But it’s also super important — for three reasons:
- Guides and services need honest feedback to improve.
- Future travelers need the whole picture.
- Each business benefits from transparency, not flattery.
It happens sometimes that the tour becomes a nightmare...
Not every tour is perfect. Sometimes, a guide disappoints, a tour feels rushed, or the whole experience doesn’t meet your expectations. That’s normal — and you have every right to say so.
But when you write a negative review, it’s easy to get emotional, sarcastic, or even personal. That’s when reviews stop being helpful and start being harmful.
Navigating the terrain of a negative experience can be challenging, especially when expressing your thoughts in a review. Crafting a negative review that remains fair, constructive, and devoid of emotional reactivity is often more complex than it may initially appear. However, this endeavor holds significant importance. A well-structured review articulates your dissatisfaction and serves as a guiding light for others who may encounter similar situations. It can provide valuable insights for the business, enabling them to make necessary improvements while helping prospective customers make informed decisions. Mastering this delicate balance is crucial for ensuring your feedback is informative and respectful.
Some experiences are painted in vivid colors; others could consist of 50 shades of grey.
Here’s how to write a respectful, honest, and helpful negative review:
💡 1. Focus on facts, not feelings
Instead of saying:
❌ “The guide was terrible and didn’t care at all.”
Say:
✅ “The guide seemed distracted and didn’t share much information during the tour. I expected more engagement based on the description.”
Example of a negative review about a tour guide.
You’re not attacking the person — you’re describing what happened and how it affected you.
🧱 2. Structure it like a sandwich (yes, really)
This classic technique works beautifully:
- Start with something positive (even if small).
- Describe the issues honestly.
- End with a suggestion or soft conclusion.
Example:
“The booking process was smooth, and the location was beautiful. Unfortunately, the guide arrived 20 minutes late and rushed through the tour. It felt very impersonal. With better time management and more interaction, this could be a great experience.”
One star or all five? The choice is yours.
See how it feels more balanced and reasonable?
🔍 3. Be specific, not dramatic
Avoid vague or exaggerated language like:
❌ “Worst tour ever!”
❌ “A total waste of time and money.”
Instead, explain what exactly made it disappointing:
✅ “The itinerary listed 5 stops, but we only saw 3. The guide didn’t explain why, and we felt confused.”
Try to stay thinking positively in any situation!
🧠 4. Check your emotional temperature
If you're writing the review while still angry, take a pause. Wait a few hours—or a day—and write it when you’ve cooled down. Your review will be more effective and taken more seriously.
🕊️ 5. Ask yourself: What would you want to read?
Imagine you’re a fellow traveler reading your review. Would it help you make a better decision? Or does it just vent frustration?
Helpful reviews — even negative ones — serve others. Angry rants serve no one (except your ego for a moment).
Remember that your own knowledge, feedback, opinion or review are valuable for other travelers!
🚨 When NOT to Leave a Review
Yes — sometimes, the best thing you can do is not post.
Skip the review if:
- You were the problem (e.g., showed up 40 minutes late, didn’t follow instructions).
- Your anger is still fresh and explosive.
- You’re tempted to shame or insult the guide personally.
Instead, consider privately contacting the platform (like PRIVATE GUIDE WORLD at www.pg.world). Complaints are often better resolved behind the scenes than on a public wall.
The time arrives to start your first review!
🧭 Final Thought
Negative reviews are not about revenge — they’re about reality.
If something needs improvement, say it. But say it like someone who wants things to get better, not someone who wants to burn the house down. Being fair and factual isn’t just respectful — it makes your review more robust and trustworthy.
Modern technology is pretty helpful in composing a good review.
Technical Tips for Writing a Review on the PRIVATE GUIDE WORLD platform
As mentioned, any tourist registered on www.pg.world can write a TRAVELER REVIEW for a tour guide. Follow these simple instructions:
1️⃣ Open your tourist profile on www.pg.world.
2️⃣ Find the tour guide you want to review. You can do this in two ways:
- Use the search function by entering the name of the country/city where your tour guide operates.
- Click on the tour guide's avatar in your chat section (available in both the desktop version and mobile app), where you’ve previously discussed your tour details with a guide. This method takes you directly to the guide’s profile.
3️⃣ Scroll down to locate the TRAVELER REVIEW section at the bottom of the tour guide’s profile. Alternatively, click the TRAVELER REVIEWS button below the tour guide’s avatar.
- Anyone can read existing reviews without logging in.
- Only logged-in tourists can write a new review.
4️⃣ Start writing your review:
- In the Android mobile app, press the PLUS (+) button in the lower-right corner of the screen, and in the iOS mobile app, press the PENCIL icon in the upper-right corner of the iPhone screen. This will open a blank text field.
- In the desktop version, the text field appears above previous tourist reviews.
- Type your review (minimum 200 characters required). Your review will appear online in the language you created it.
5️⃣ Submit your review by clicking the SEND button.
6️⃣ Moderation process:
- Your review will first undergo moderation before being published on the tour guide’s profile. Moderation takes a few hours to one day at most.
- Once your review is published, you and the tour guide will receive push notifications in the app and another to the registered email address.
The only purpose of moderation is to check if reviews comply with platform guidelines.
Important Clarification About Review Moderation
To ensure transparency, we want to emphasize that moderation of traveler reviews is not about selecting “good” or “bad” reviews. The only purpose of moderation is to check if reviews comply with platform guidelines—this includes ensuring there is no contact information, offensive language, or inappropriate behavior.
We never delete or trade negative reviews. As long as a review follows our guidelines, it remains published regardless of whether it is positive or critical. This process ensures fairness and protects both travelers and tour guides from potential misuse of the review system.
Mechanisms of Content Moderation
PRIVATE GUIDE WORLD uses both machine learning technology and human beings working together to moderate content. Our machine-learning technology flags potentially violative content for human moderators to decide whether the content should remain or be rejected for most content categories in our guidelines. Human moderators could not catch inappropriate content as quickly as the automated systems. Still, once content is flagged, they can better use context to decide whether to reject or retain content on the platform.
A review is live and visible to all visitors of the PRIVATE GUIDE WORLD platform. Congratulations!
