Let's say you're searching for a tour guide in Istanbul. After viewing a list of 124 registered guides, you realize you only need one. You can Apply the language filter—let's say you select English—but you might still see 99 guides! It would take hours to review each profile, so you start to feel overwhelmed.
With an extensive list of local tour guides in Istanbul, even the most discerning traveler can easily find a guide who meets their preferences and expectations on PRIVATE GUIDE WORLD.
Here's where the GENERIC REQUEST comes in handy. Instead of reading every profile, you can send one message to all the tour guides. Press the GENERIC REQUEST button, choose the English language, and type your message. Then, hit the green SEND button, and your job is done now! Your request will automatically be sent to the 99 English-speaking guides in Istanbul.

To follow this tutorial, you'll need a smartphone, tablet or laptop computer with an internet browser like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, DuckDuckGo, or Brave (e.g., the one you use for regular web surfing). Most smartphones come with a preinstalled browser. We'll use an Android device for this tutorial, but the iOS version is similar, with minor Appearance differences.

Step 1: Open the App or Website
Open the PRIVATE GUIDE WORLD App by tapping the icon or entering the website address www.pg.world into your browser, just as you would when accessing any website.

At this step, when logging into your profile, we recommend choosing your preferred language from our selection of 6: English, Russian, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. For instructions on changing the PRIVATE GUIDE WORLD platform language on the website www.pg.world, refer to the images below:

By doing so, the entire platform interface will adapt to your chosen language. All notifications, including new messages and system alerts, will be delivered in your selected language. You can change your language preference at any time while using the service.

Step 2: Search for Your Destination
In the search field, type the name of your destination city, such as "Rio," and press the GO button.

A list of all local guides in Rio will Appear. If you don't have time to explore every guide's profile, there's a faster option—scroll back to the top of the list and find the GENERIC REQUEST button. Note that this button is only available for logged-in tourists and not for registered tour guides (instead, if a tour guide needs to contact another tour guide, we suggest sending individual messages between the registered tour guides).
Tap the GENERIC REQUEST button to start composing your message.
Step 3: Send Your Request
Press the GENERIC REQUEST button, and a screen with a blank field for a text message will open.

Next, from the drop-down menu, select the language you and your potential guide should speak.
Note: If you're looking for a guide who speaks a rare language and can't find one listed, don’t give up! Try sending a message to English-speaking guides, like:
"Dear Sir/Madam, I plan to visit Cook Island and am looking for a local guide who speaks Esperanto. Could you recommend any colleagues? Thank you, Bob."
Even if no guides speak Esperanto, some may recommend a colleague who does.

Step 4: Compose Your Message
Type your message in the text field. Be clear and specific, including important details and questions. The minimum message length is 200 characters, but there's no maximum.
Here's an example, but feel free to customize your message as needed:
"Dear local tour guide of RIO!
With my husband, I plan to visit Brazil for the New Year 2024 celebration, and we are looking for a local English-speaking tour guide who can show us the city and its' hidden gems during 1 full-day tour on December 30, 2023.
Who of you is available on that day? What program can you suggest? What is the cost for 2?
Await your reply.

If you've already saved your contact details in your profile, you can include them in your message to communicate directly outside the platform. Otherwise, replies will be sent to your profile on PRIVATE GUIDE WORLD, and you'll receive notifications through the built-in messenger.

Step 5: Send Your Message
Once your message is ready, press the SEND button. After sending, you'll see a confirmation screen, and your message will be delivered to the REQUEST section of all relevant guides' profiles.
When a GENERIC REQUEST is sent correctly, the sender will see a confirmation notification on the screen.
You and the tour guides will receive push notifications in the App and an email to your registered address.
Additional Messaging Features
- Sharing Contact Information: If you've previously saved your contact information in your profile, you can share it in any chat message (phone number, Skype, email). To do this, tap the paperclip icon in the message window and select the contact details you want to share.
- Editing Your Contact Details: To update or add contact information, go to the EDIT section of your profile, enter the details, and press SAVE. You can include multiple phone numbers (with country codes automatically added), Skype, and email addresses.

- Subscription and Notifications: Ensure your platform news and notifications subscription is active. Go to SETTINGS to check your alert preferences.

Receiving Replies
When a tour guide replies, you'll receive a push notification and an email immediately. To respond, log into your profile through the App or website, and you'll see a red indicator next to the envelope icon, showing the number of new messages.
This is what notification settings look like.
Open the CHAT section to view and respond to your messages. All messages will remain in your profile until you delete them.
